Introduction

My name is Jennifer Antle. I am an undergraduate student at the Pennsylvania State University in the College of Liberal Arts, with a projected graduation date of May 2015. This year proved to be  academically demanding, with some courses more challenging than others.

By far the most challenging and time-consuming course I took this semester was LA101H. A class geared primarily towards Schreyer Honors and Paterno Fellows students; the course load was heavy and nonstop. Projects included three essays, three speeches, twenty-three blog posts, and a video over the course of fifteen weeks. However demanding, the schedule was manageable and rewarding.

I have learned so much in my freshman year at Penn State, and LA101H has been an influential part of that learning process. Before taking this class, I considered myself an average writer, I had never written a blog before, and giving speeches made me squirm. Today I can proudly say that all of those characteristics have changed. My writing style has expanded from the standard five-paragraph essay to one with multiple paragraphs and multiple ways to emphasize a point. Over the course of the semester, I wrote a total of twenty-three blogs, and can now easily navigate my way through a blog. The most rewarding change in my academics however, has been my ability to give a speech. During previous speeches, before enrolling in LA101H, I would become so nervous that my hands would shake and I would stumble over my words. Now I can speak to an audience with confidence and limited physical blunders.

I present this online portfolio as a display of my best work this semester in LA101H. You will find an example of one of my essays, one of my speeches, and four of my blogs. All works have been revised from their original version to improve their quality. Enjoy!
